Client Issue: 

Client is an internationally recognized leader in the personal product care market. They manufacture products that are number one or two in 80 countries. Operations run in more than 30 countries with 57,000+ employees and had over $19B in sales in 2010.

Client had recently gone through a significant outsourcing exercise in IT. After reviewing the current IT organization several areas were found to require improvement in process and skills. IT now had a new way of partnering with the business as well as a need to establish an Enterprise Architecture function.

Approach and Methodology: 

Over a nine month period we provided a team to lead the client in structured workshops. Our team lead all of IT through detailed process mapping workshops where the core operations of all IT towers were re-organized. Lawrence lead IT executives through transformation of their core business and re-aligned IT/Business budgets such that IT was able to more quickly and effectively deliver results.

We took ownership for all change management activities and held regular meetings and developed communications materials for all FTEs and contractors.

Lawrence and team developed a comprehensive framework for the fledgling Enterprise Architecture group. The team did skills assessment, product evaluation and divided the group into four competency areas:

  • Technology Frameworks
  • Vendor and (IT) Supplier Management
  • Project support
  • Operations and Governance

In addition templates for all architectural deliverables were created as part of an enterprise repository.
